10/18/17 Dr. Billy Lawrence, The Punk and the Professor

The Punk and the Professor

Billy Lawrence PhD.pngPresenter: Dr. Billy Lawrence, SCCC Alumni and Professor of English (NC State University)

Facilitator: Susan Lieberthal, Ammerman Campus Head Librarian

As both a Suffolk County Community College alumnus and former instructor, Dr. Billy Lawrence has published his most recent novel, The Punk and the Professor.  Set on Long Island (with many references), the book is a sociological look at dysfunctional suburbia during the 1980s and ‘90s—a professor looks back at his struggle to stay in school and deal with troubled family and friends. The story appeals to both adults and young readers starting with late teens, but is of particular interest to parents, educators, and those with interest in developmental psychology. Dr. Lawrence will be discussing the process of writing and publishing his novel. More information about the author can be found at https://www.billylawrencebooks.com.

This event is co-sponsored by Ammerman Library & SCCC Society of Writers.

Wednesday Oct. 18th 2017 11:10 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
