Suffolk County Community College Fall Presidential Lecture Series Announced

SUBJECT:     Fall Presidential Lecture Series Announced


I am pleased to announce the second Presidential Lecture Series to be presented at Suffolk County Community College.  This annual forum is meant to engage the college community in meaningful conversations that can inspire each of us to bring about positive change in our communities.  It also provides the College with an opportunity to meet its mission-related strategic goal of enhancing community enrichment through increased participation in social and cultural events and activities conducted by the College or in partnership with external stakeholders.


This year’s presentation is entitled, “Recognizing the Impact of Global Awareness: A Conversation with ZimKids Orphan Trust.” The lecture will be held on Wednesday, November 30th at 11 a.m. in the Shinnecock Building, Room 101, on the Eastern Campus.  ZimKids provides 300+ orphans in the Pumula North, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe area with educational opportunities, skills training, food, medical care, and recreational activities.


Additional presentations will be held on the Michael J. Grant Campus at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Monday, November 28th in Captree Commons Room 114, and on the Ammerman Campus at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29th in the Eaton’s Neck Room, Babylon Student Center. There will also be a Faculty Association-sponsored presentation to the faculty on Tuesday, November 29th at 3:30 p.m. in the Eaton’s Neck Room as well.


Tickets to attend the lecture are free for the college community and available at the Ammerman Campus Box Office, Islip Arts Building- 121; the Michael J. Grant Campus Van Nostrand Box Office, Sagtikos Arts and Science Building-Room 133; and the Eastern Campus, Office of Campus Activities, Peconic Building-122.  Classes are encouraged to attend.  If you would like tickets for your entire class, please contact Patty Munsch at munschp@sunysuffolk.edu.
