Farmingville – At the December 3 Town Board meeting, Councilman Kevin LaValle (right) honored the Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) Women’s Cross Country team for winning the 2015 NJCAA Division III National Championship.

“A national championship is a great achievement, and we are all very proud of these young women for what they have accomplished,” said Councilman LaValle. “Congratulations to the entire team and Coach French on their successful season.”

Councilman LaValle also honored Matt French (third from right), the Women’s Cross Country team coach, for being named Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year by U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Coach French, who is in his second year with Suffolk’s program, led the Sharks to the national title with 64 points, 23 ahead of the nearest runner-up. This was SCCC’s second national title and first since 2007. Also pictured is SCCC Athletic Director Kevin Foley (second from right).
