CHDHU BannerA Conversation Among Survivors at the CHDHU

The CHDHU presented “A Conversation Among Survivors” on May 21 in the Shea Theater, our third such event.  Our participants, Werner Reich, Ruth Minsky Sender, Annie Bleiberg and Hannah Robinson spoke in moving ways of their experiences during the Holocaust to a large audience in the theater.  Moderated by Professor Steven Klipstein, the program aroused great interest and attention among the audience of students and community members. The program was also viewed by simulcast at the Smithtown, Commack and Three Village School Districts.

Each of the survivors has their own perspective and experience to present to the audience.  Werner Reich was from Germany and his parents moved to Croatia as a teenager.  He was taken prisoner by the Croatian Nazis and sent to Auschwitz.  After the war, Werner was able to come to the United States. He worked during the day and went to school at night to become an engineer.  After a long successful career Werner has become an articulate speaker about his Holocaust experience.
