From major conventions and international sporting events to community-based festivals and conferences, Suffolk County Community College’s Office of Special Events provides you with a range of unparalleled, unique environments across Suffolk County to make your event memorable. Through cooperation, coordination and collaboration, we stand ready to enhance your efforts and facilitate every facet of the special-event permitting process. We work closely with our professional staff to execute all necessary agreements and to ensure the safety of everyone who may participate or be present during any event. We encourage you to explore the following venues to elevate your next event:
- Field House (Michael J. Grant Campus – Brentwood)
The Field House within the Health, Sports and Education Center provides 58,000-square-feet of unobstructed, air-conditioned space with ceiling heights over 35 feet. It serves as both a year-round athletic facility and exhibition hall for a wide-range of activities, including trade shows, concerts, expositions, athletic tournaments and conferences. It includes more than 20 break-out rooms with a total capacity of 4,800 people.
The Field House also includes a 6-lane, 200-meter track, long jump and pole vault pit, hardwood NJCAA-approved basketball court and volleyball and badminton courts. The Field House is conveniently located off of the Long Island Expressway, offers ample parking, nearby hotels and was home to the YONEX U.S. Open Badminton Championships.
- The Lecture Hall (Brentwood)
The Lecture Hall offers almost 2,500-square-feet of theatre-style seating for 154 attendees. It is fully equipped with audio-visual and multi-mode fiber optics. Internet connection, PowerPoint capabilities, screens, and closed-circuit TV capabilities are just some of the many amenities. This high-tech environment also boasts padded and fabric-covered walls for optimum acoustics and projection. The comfortable seats have retractable book rests which make it perfect for presentations, lecture classes and more.
- Sagtikos Theatre (Brentwood)
The Sagtikos Theatre consists of 477 seats, two wheelchair areas, a mezzanine that can be stationed off and utilized in case of overflow, or used with 98 seats separately. The theatre also offers a Green Room, Women’s and Men’s dressing rooms, a wardrobe area, and a washer and dryer. The Sagtikos Theatre provides a computerized lighting system; digital audio system; 42 line sets with a fly house data video projection system; and a PowerPoint setup with projection, screen, and lectern capabilities.
- Brookhaven Gym (Ammerman Campus – Selden)
This facility houses two full basketball courts, seats over 1,200 spectators,and is the main arena for basketball and volleyball games. It includes a conference room; instructional areas; locker rooms; fitness and weight rooms with Cybex strength training systems, free weights and cardiovascular equipment; an equipment area and athletic sports medicine facility; and an auxiliary gym for aerobic, yoga, dance and practice activities. Situated adjacent to County Road 97 (Nicolls Road), the Brookhaven Gym offers convenient parking and has successfully hosted events ranging from concerts, to boxing matches, to trade shows.
- Culinary Arts Center (Riverhead)
Our facility provides intimate spaces for up to 28, and larger rooms that can handle up to 175. All of our meeting spaces are “Smart Rooms” with comprehensive audio/visual capabilities. Our Sub-Zero Wolf Demonstration Theatre includes overhead wide-screen projection, stadium-style seating and is the perfect venue for hands-on cooking demonstrations and tastings.
It is great for team-building events or private parties. In addition, our two state-of-the-art commercial kitchens can also be used for customized cooking experiences. For small, informal gatherings, we offer multi-purpose customized meeting spaces, as well as the Parr Atrium, which provides soaring ceilings and street-side vistas.
- Health & Wellness Facility (Eastern Campus – Riverhead)
The upcoming 40,000-square-foot Health and Wellness facility will contain basketball courts; locker rooms; shower rooms; faculty offices; a wellness center with a rock climbing wall; a weight room; a natatorium; and classrooms.
