Pulitzer Prize Winner Les Payne Headlines Suffolk’s Second Annual National Dialogue on Race, “The Civil Rights Act of 1964: 50 Years Later.”

Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and former Newsday Editor Les Payne will headline Suffolk County Community College’s Second Annual National Dialogue on Race and lead a discussion about “The Civil Rights Act of 1964: 50 Years Later.” Christina Vargas, Suffolk County Community College’s Affirmative Action Officer will also take part in the spirited program that is free to the public.

The September 18, 2014 program will take place in the College’s Van Nostrand Theater on the Michael J. Grant Campus, Brentwood

A follow-up program on September 19 will feature three screenings of the civil rights film, “Freedom Summer 1964” in room 113 of the Captree Commons, also on the Michael J. Grant Campus. Screening times are 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
